The delay of the Chinese New Year holiday from the Wuhan Coronavirus left a 3 week holiday extension. Whilst the death counts totals up to more than 700 (officially documented death only), the hours at home totals up to be a little too much to stay put in my bed for online schooling. The Taipei city is dark with the atmosphere of fear against the virus. Masks ran out, news are updated every second, flights are canceled, people are scared and The chief of WHO continues to deny the entry of Taiwan in their global discussions.
The city air is thick with caution. I like some nature as much as the city. We drove to Yilan for some breathe of freshness. The Black House Cafe had a really modern and exquisite design with healthy and delicious brunch. I had a pearl barley oatmeal topped with granola, dried cranberries, chia seeds and crushed roasted almonds. A new dish I never blessed myself with. I might try to remake it someday. The scenery of the squared farmlands are as calming as the interior aesthetic. Sipping my black coffee, our brunch didn't end until 12:30.
Then, my day was topped by Lulu. Old as he is, his cuteness never ages. The camera intrigued him that day. I snapped the pictures in that moment to capture those dulled, jet-black eyes. He is a little older than 14, I don't know for sure though.
Sniffs of smell of freshly baked wheel-cake made the cafe even more lovely. I feel as light as the matcha cream wheel-cake I stuffed myself with. My favourites lies between the rich oolong tea custard with soft peanut tongyuan, and the slightly bitter matcha with the sweet red-bean paste. A cheat meal?
